GRINNELL, Iowa – Lake Forest College freshman
Lilli Dockal was named Midwest Conference (MWC) Women’s Tennis Newcomer and Player of the Year, the league announced Wednesday. This marks the second year in a row that a Lake Forest student-athlete has swept both awards.
At the No. 2 singles position, Dockal went undefeated (6-0) against MWC opponents and 15-1 overall. Dockal partnered with Sofia Strupovets in No. 1 doubles, going undefeated (6-0) in league play and 13-1 overall.
Dockal won the No. 2 singles championship and teamed up with Strupovets to claim the No. 1 doubles crown at the 2024 MWC Women’s Tennis Individual Tournament, held last weekend in Madison, Wisconsin.
Dockal also headlines the 2024-25 MWC Women’s Tennis All-Conference Singles and All-Conference Doubles Teams, each consisting of ten players. Across both teams, Cornell College, Grinnell College, and Lake Forest garnered six selections, while Lawrence University and Monmouth College each received one selection.
In his fourth year as head coach of the Foresters,
Scot Reinhart was named MWC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year. Under Reinhart’s leadership, Lake Forest finished second in the team standings, going 5-1 in MWC action and 9-1 overall.
Lake Forest was also recognized as the team that best exemplifies the sportsmanship ideals of the league, receiving the 2024-25 MWC Women’s Tennis Team Sportsmanship Award.
The MWC women's tennis postseason awards are nominated and selected by a vote of the league's seven head coaches. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players and teams. This is the fourth presentation of the MWC Women's Tennis Player of the Year award and the second time the All-Conference Singles and Doubles Teams have been selected not based on the players' finishes at the MWC Individual Tournament.
