2024 MWC Women's Swimming & Diving Championship Marks Third Straight for Grinnell

GRINNELL, Iowa – The Grinnell women’s swimming & diving team won its third consecutive Midwest Conference (MWC) championship on Sunday, for a league-best 27 titles overall.  
 
The Pioneers scored 864 points and claimed nine event titles throughout the three-day event. On Sunday, Grinnell was victorious in the 100 freestyle (Ciara Vogler), 200 butterfly (Sarah Lopez), and the 400 freestyle relay (Vogler, Gonzales, Shermak, Carroll).
 
Lopez’s 2:05.83 time in the 200 butterfly marked a new MWC and championship meet record.
 
St. Norbert head coach Ryan Goggans was named the Women’s Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year, leading his team to a second-place finish behind 733 total points. On Sunday, the Green Knights picked up the 200 breaststroke crown (Ally Boyer).
 
Lake Forest accumulated 248 points to take third place in the standings. On the final day of competition, the Foresters claimed two first-place finishes in the 1650 freestyle (Ally McCarthy) and 200 breaststroke (Audrey Kilmer), and picked up three individual award honors.
 
Representing Lake Forest, junior Capri Kalvelage was the recipient of the Elite 20 Award for the second year in a row, freshman Izabella Harju was named Newcomer of the Year, and freshman Audrey Kilmer claimed Swimmer of the Year.
 
Monmouth and Ripon tied for fifth with 225 points each, followed by Beloit (217.5) and Illinois College (168).
 
Beloit junior Helena Harrison was named Diver of the Year.
