GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College captured its fourth consecutive Midwest Conference (MWC) Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship on Sunday, bringing its total to a league-best 28 titles.
The Pioneers led all teams with 929 points, highlighted by meet and conference record-breaking victories in the 200-yard butterfly (Sarah Lopez), earning an NCAA “A” cut, and the 400-yard freestyle relay (Carroll, Gonzales, Vogler, Cook).
St. Norbert College finished second with 696 points. The Green Knights secured two first-place finishes on Sunday, with Lacy Geurts setting a new meet and MWC record in the 100-yard freestyle and Ally Boyer winning the 200-yard breaststroke. St. Norbert’s Adelle Polzin was named MWC Diver of the Year.
Lake Forest College took third place with 536 points. The Foresters claimed victories in the 1650-yard freestyle (Amelie Andres) and 200-yard backstroke (Audrey Kilmer) on Sunday. Lake Forest’s Isabella Rozenbergas was named MWC Swimmer of the Year, while Caprice Kalvelage earned the Elite 20 award for the third consecutive year. The Elite 20 award is presented to the student-athlete at the championship meet with the highest cumulative grade-point average.
Beloit College finished fourth with 322 points, and Buccaneers swimmer Lydia Nordgren was named MWC Newcomer of the Year.
Lawrence University placed fifth with 246 points, while Monmouth College finished sixth with 245 points. Monmouth head coach Jake Dacus was named MWC Women’s Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year.
Ripon College and Illinois College rounded out the standings with 214 and 152 points, respectively.
