CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – For the second time in the last three seasons – and third time in the previous six – Grinnell College has claimed the Midwest Conference (MWC) Women’s Cross Country title at Seminole Valley Park.
The Pioneers earned a team score of 40 points to fend off Cornell College (51 points) and Ripon College (58 points).
Placing three runners in the top 10, Grinnell was led by Hannah Roark (3rd place, 21:37.3), Morgan Karow (5th place, 21:46.1) and Sindri Bonner (6th place, 21:49.7). Lizzie Drew came in 11th with a time of 22:15.0 to claim MWC Newcomer of the Year honors.
Cornell’s Lidia Dahlman won the individual conference crown, finishing in 21:00.2 for the Rams’ first individual MWC champion on the women’s side since 2017. In the process, she set a new women’s championship meet record by five seconds – eclipsing the previous mark which stood since 2010 – and a new Seminole Valley Park course record.
The Grinnell College coaching staff was named the 2025 MWC Women’s Cross Country Coaching Staff of the Year. The Pioneers are led by head coach Sarah Burnell in her sixth season, along with assistants Andrew Nickeson and Keegan Parrott.
Megan Dodrill of Lake Forest College received the 2025 MWC Women’s Cross Country Elite 20 award for having the highest cumulative grade-point average among student-athletes competing in the championship.
