OSHKOSH, Wisconsin – On the heels of a competitive Midwest Conference Championship weekend, five MWC cross country programs remain in the USTFCCCA Week 7 Regional Rankings with regional meets just a week and a half away.
Both the Grinnell College women’s and men’s programs earned spots in this week’s Midwest Region rankings, with the women’s team checking in at No. 6 and the men’s team at No. 10. Cornell (#8, Midwest Region) and Ripon College (#6, North Region) also appear in this week’s women’s rankings, while newly crowned MWC champion Lawrence University (#9, North Region) moves up in the men’s rankings.
MWC women’s team champion Grinnell boasted three runners inside the top six, as Hannah Roark (3rd place), Morgan Karow (5th place) and SIndri Bonner (6th place) helped the Pioneers with the league crown. Lizzie Drew was named the MWC Newcomer of the Year after taking 11th, while Arushi Kharbanda came in 15th for Grinnell.
Cornell’s Lidia Dahlman was named the MWC individual champion at last weekend’s meet, setting a meet and course record with a 21:00.2 showing. Mackenzie Engbert (8th place), Alyza Koppes (12th place), Ava Claussen-Tubbs (13th place) and Carley Seeley (17th place) joined Dahlman as all-conference Rams. Ripon’s Joley Berger was the MWC runner-up, while her teammate Jenny Cortes (4th place) also earned a top five finish. Other all-conference Red Hawks included Gabby Allard (10th place) and Mya Garcia (18th place).
On the men’s side, Lawrence was led by Ryan Cassiday (4th place), Nick Hansen (5th place), Finn Lee (6th place), Zach Meyer (7th place) and Caleb Hardy (12th place). Grinnell had six runners named all-conference after Luke Robinson (8th place), Jack Lakin (9th place, MWC Newcomer of the Year), Ben Abelow (10th place), Sebastian Vilches (17th place), Greyson Imm (18th place) and Connor Heagy (20th place) all earned top 20 finishes.
Ripon hosts the Red Hawk Open on Thursday (November 6) while Grinnell and Cornell head to Luther for the Saga Cup this Friday (November 7).
