LAKE FOREST, Illinois – For the second consecutive season, Lake Forest College and Lawrence University will square off in the Midwest Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament championship after the Foresters and Vikings were victorious on Friday at Mohr Field.

Top-seeded Lake Forest got past #4 Grinnell 1-0, while #3 seed Lawrence beat #2 Illinois College 1-0.

In the first semifinal, Anna Gracia’s 16th goal of the season in the 10th minute was all the hosts needed to advance. Lake Forest had a 9-0 shots advantage in the first half and outshot the Pioneers 16-2 through the full match.

Match two was a scoreless affair through 71 minutes, though Illinois College had a 7-0 advantage in shots through the first 45. However, Lawrence struck for the match’s only score in the 71st minute thanks to a goal by Renate Hramiec. The Vikings possessed six of the eight second half shots between the teams and held on in the final 19 minutes to secure the win.

Saturday’s final is set for 1 p.m. The winner receives the Midwest Conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Lawrence is looking for back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, while Lake Forest searches for its second MWC Tournament title (and second NCAA bid) in the last three seasons.
