ST. LOUIS, Missouri – Lake Forest College wrapped up its 2025 campaign at the NCAA Division III Softball Championship regional on Saturday with a 4-2 loss to Washington University in St. Louis.

The Foresters were originally scheduled to face the regional host on Friday, but play was suspended after two scoreless innings due to severe weather. A tornado touched down in the area, prompting evacuation of the venue and postponement of the game. Competition resumed Saturday morning in the top of the third inning.

After another quiet frame, WashU broke through with two runs in the fourth and added two more in the sixth to build a 4-0 lead. Lake Forest responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut the deficit in half, but the comeback fell short as neither team scored in the final inning.

The Midwest Conference champion Foresters conclude the season with a 28-16-1 overall record.
