GRINNELL, Iowa – The Midwest Conference has announced its 2024-25 Academic All-Conference Team, recognizing 1,692 student-athletes for their success in both academics and athletics over the past academic year.
To earn Academic All-Conference honors, student-athletes must have achieved a minimum 3.33 grade-point average for the academic year, earned a varsity letter in one of the league’s 18 sponsored sports, and competed on a team that completed at least 50 percent of its scheduled contests. Honorees are named each year following the posting of spring-term grades.
This year’s group includes 940 student-athletes representing men’s sports and 752 representing women’s sports. A total of 358 student-athletes were recognized as multi-sport participants, including 181 in men’s sports and 177 in women’s sports. Among them were 83 two-sport participants in men’s sports, 86 in women’s sports, 98 in three men’s sports, and 90 in three women’s sports.
Grinnell College led all institutions with 307 Academic All-Conference selections. That total includes 174 student-athletes in men’s sports and 133 in women’s sports, along with a league-high 82 multi-sport honorees.
Lawrence University followed with 200 selections, while Lake Forest College finished third with 184 selections. Illinois College and Ripon College tied for fourth with 183 each. Cornell College recorded 172 honorees, followed by Monmouth College with 153, Beloit College with 140, and Knox College with 70.
Affiliate members also had a strong showing. The University of Chicago had 68 football honorees, the most by any institution in a single sport, and St. Norbert College added 32 honorees across men’s and women’s swimming & diving.
By season, fall sports led the way with 906 honorees, with football contributing the highest total at 308. Winter sports beat out spring sports by one, coming in at 661 and 660 respectively. Men’s indoor track & field led all winter sports with 169 honorees, while men’s outdoor track & field topped the spring sports with the same number.
