United Soccer Coaches Honor Seven MWC Programs

Oshkosh, Wisconsin — The United Soccer Coaches released their College Team Academic Award winners on Friday for both men’s and women’s soccer.
 
For a team to be considered for the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, it must have a composite team grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) for all team members who appear on the official NCAA, NAIA, NCCAA or junior college roster forms for the respective fall season.
Both the Grinnell men’s and women’s programs were recognized, while Cornell, Illinois College, Lawrence and Ripon were honored on the men’s side. Monmouth’s women’s team received recognition as well.

MEN
Cornell College, 3.27 – Head Coach: Nate Grosse (3rd career team honor)
Grinnell College, 3.56 – Head Coach: Brian Jaworski (19th career team honor)
Illinois College, 3.01 – Head Coach: Evan Philpott (6th career team honor)
Lawrence University, 3.35 – Head Coach: Will Greer (14th career team honor)
Ripon College, 3.25 – Head Coach: Marco Rhein (2nd career team honor)
 
WOMEN
Grinnell College, 3.73 – Head Coach: Kirsten Koester (18th career team honor)
Monmouth College, 3.60 – Head Coach: Lucas Henderson (8th career team honor)

The Team Academic Award was created to recognize student athletes’ commitment to excellence in the classroom. To be eligible for the College Team Academic Award, the nominated program must be a current member of United Soccer Coaches College Services.
