MONMOUTH, Illinois – In its first year of Midwest Conference competition, the Luther College women’s soccer program has claimed the league crown with a 4-0 road win at Monmouth College on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Norse wasted very little time finding the back of the net, as Samantha McCorkle connected on her fourth goal of the season just 43 seconds into the match. With less than two minutes remaining in the first half, Ansley Schaak scored her first goal of the campaign to give Luther a 2-0 lead after 45 minutes.
 
Luther continued its pressure in the second stanza, as Ava Stemler scored her third of the season in the 52nd minute. Schaak’s second tally of the day wrapped up the scoring in the 66th minute as the Norse cruised to the 4-0 win.
 
Luther had a 22-3 advantage in shots, including a 10-2 edge in shots on goal. Riley Anderson, Anya Kennedy and Sofia Colavita all had a match-high three shots, while Rylie Bucklin and Alannah McKibben each made one save in 79 and 11 minutes of action, respectively.
 
Sophie Haynes, Kiersten Medinger and Mariah Hobson all tallied shots for Monmouth. Cadence Covert had four saves in 78 minutes for the Fighting Scots, while Emily Leshin made one stop in 12 minutes between the pipes.
 
Luther (8-2-4) will be the top seed at the 2026 Midwest Conference Women’s Soccer Tournament. The Norse will host the semifinals and final of the tournament on Friday and Saturday (November 6-7). The six qualifying teams will compete for the MWC Team Tournament title and the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament. Tournament action begins on Tuesday, November 3 with a pair of quarterfinal matches hosted by the third and fourth seeds. Lake Forest College also received a quarterfinal bye, while #3 Lawrence University will host #6 Knox College and #4 Grinnell College hosts #5 Beloit College.
 
The Norse are seeking their first MWC Tournament title (and second NCAA Tournament berth in program history).
