OSHKOSH, Wisconsin – The Grinnell College women’s tennis program entered the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Women’s Top 40 Coaches Poll for the first time since February 11, as the latest rankings were announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.

Bringing a 9-4 record to this weekend’s matches at Coe and North Central (Ill.), the 37th-ranked Pioneers have faced four ranked opponents this spring, including a 4-3 victory over #33 Carleton on March 8. Last week in Virginia over spring break, Grinnell fell to #25 Christopher Newport, #13 Johns Hopkins and #34 Mary Washington while defeating Virginia Wesleyan 4-3.

Grinnell won the Midwest Conference women’s tennis regular season title in the fall, its sixth consecutive league crown. The Pioneers will be the #1 seed in May’s MWC Tournament, searching for their sixth-straight NCAA Tournament berth.

The ITA Top 40 Coaches Poll is voted on by the ITA National Ranking Committee. The National Ranking Committee is made up of the four ITA Region Chairs and a National Chair, with each chair casting an individual, secret ballot. The next team rankings are released on Wednesday, April 1.
