MOORHEAD, Minnesota – The Ripon College women’s basketball program led late into the fourth quarter of Saturday night’s NCAA Second Round game, but Concordia-Moorhead held on down the stretch for a 68-65 victory over the Red Hawks inside Memorial Auditorium.

Concordia took a 15-10 lead into the second quarter, but Ripon clawed back from a five-point deficit with under eight minutes to go in the half and led by three at halftime, 28-25. The Red Hawks limited the Cobbers to no field goals after the 7:45 mark of the second stanza.

A layup by Laney Havlovitz halfway through the third quarter gave Ripon its largest lead of the game at 39-34. However, Concordia scored the next six points as the seesaw battle began. With Ripon leading 50-45 with 7:55 left in the game, Concordia scored 10 of the next 14 points and took the lead for good, 55-54, with 4:43 remaining. Trailing by three with 11 seconds left, Ripon missed a pair of three-pointers at the horn to seal Concordia’s comeback victory.

Havlovitz scored a team-high 22 points to lead Ripon, while Halle Van Horn totaled 14 and Karsyn Nelson added 10. Maya Metcalf recorded a game-high 24 points for Concordia. Molly Musland chipped in 12.

Ripon ends its season with a 26-2 record. The Red Hawks won the Midwest Conference tournament crown for the third consecutive season and set a new MWC record for single-season wins.
