GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Grinnell College baseball program saw its record-setting 2026 campaign come to a close on Saturday afternoon as the Pioneers fell 10-4 to Kalamazoo College in NCAA Regional action at Big Red Field on the campus of Denison University.

Kalamazoo got the scoring started in the bottom of the first, scratching a run across against Grinnell starting pitcher David Haas. However, Grinnell responded in the top of the third thanks to a sacrifice fly by Nikolas Ruden.

The Hornets reclaimed the lead in the third, scoring once more. Kalamazoo then added two runs in the fifth, taking a 4-1 lead into the sixth inning.

Grinnell refused to go away, cutting its deficit to 4-3 after a pair of runs in the sixth. Stuart Cash scored Connor Goodson on a sacrifice fly before Mitch Baek doubled home Goodson. However, the tying run was stranded at second to end the frame.

Kzoo put the game away in the bottom of the sixth, scoring six runs on five hits while taking advantage of two Pioneer errors. Trailing 10-3 in the ninth, Connor Pink reached base on an error to score Maddux Anderson, but the final two batters of the inning were retired to close Grinnell’s season.

Grinnell mustered just six hits in the contest, as Pink (2x4, RBI, walk, run) and Baek (2x4, RBI) each had multi-hit affairs.

Haas took the loss on the mound, pitching 3.0 innings while surrendering four hits and one earned run. Adam Gallegos, Jakob Runkel, Shea Goel and Jackson Gutta all earned pitching appearances in relief.

Grinnell ends its season at 25-18. The Pioneers won the Midwest Conference regular season and tournament titles in 2026 – program firsts in both.
