CLEVELAND, Ohio – Playing in its first-ever NCAA Tournament, the Lake Forest College men’s tennis program fell 4-2 to Ohio Northern University in the first round on Friday morning at the Carlton Courts on the campus of Case Western Reserve University.
Ohio Northern grabbed a 1-0 lead after doubles, claiming wins on courts one and two. Singles was exceptionally close between the Foresters and Polar Bears, as all six courts either had a tiebreak in one of the first two sets or went into a third set.
Joao Espindola earned a 7-6 (5), 6-3 win on court five for Lake Forest, while Rodrigo Cunha was a 6-3, 7-6 (5) victor on court four. ONU picked up singles wins on courts two, three and six.
Lake Forest ends its season 16-7. The Foresters claimed their first-ever MWC Tournament title two weeks ago en route to the NCAA Tournament appearance.
