ROCKFORD, Ill. – Illinois Col. headlines the five team field after one day at the 2013 Midwest Conference (MWC) Women’s Golf Championship at Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Ill. Despite a rain delay of over an hour the Lady Blues finished the day with a score of 362 which was 21 shots better than the next closest competitor.
Monmouth had a score of 383 to put them in second place followed closely by Grinnell (384) and St. Norbert (388) in third and fourth, respectively, while Carroll finished day one with a score of 398.
Three is a three way tie for first place in the indivual portion of the championship as Morgan Alewelt (Illinois Col.), Mackenzie Barker (Illinois Col.), and Hannah Long (Monmouth) all finished with scores of 87. Alexis Lintker (Illinois Col.) and Kylie Swoboda (St. Norbert) both shot an 18 round total of 89 to round out the top five scorers.
The MWC Women’s Golf Championship will continue tomorrow. Tee times for the second day can be found on the championship page with the first round of golfers going off at 10 a.m.
