Lake Forest, Ill. – After one day of action in the 2014 Midwest Conference Softball Championship host Lake Forest is in the drivers seat as they grabbed a pair of wins on day one. St. Norbert and Monmouth also advance to day two with victories while Lawrence was eliminated from the championship tournament.

St. Norbert started the day off with a 1-0 win over Monmouth before Lake Forest defeated Lawrence 8-0 in five innings. In the first elimination game of the day Monmouth defeated Lawrence 7-6. In a battle between winning teams Lake Forest defeated St. Norbert 4-1 to ensure themselves of being the only undefeated team left in the tournament.

Day two will open up with another elimination game as Monmouth will once against faceoff against St. Norbert with the loser being eliminated and the winner moving on to face Lake Forest for the MWC Championship. Lake Forest will need just one win to claim a MWC Championship while the winner of the first contest between St. Norbert and Monmouth would need to defeat Lake Forest in back-to-back games to win the double elimination tournament.

First pitch for the St. Norbert/Monmouth game will be at 10 a.m. The winner plays Lake Forest at 12 p.m. in the championship game with a possible second championship game (if Lake Forest suffers a loss) at 2 p.m.
