Porter Earns MWC Performer of the Week

GRINNELL, Iowa – Lake Forest College sophomore guard Eric Porter had a big night from long distance in the Foresters’ comeback victory over Coe College and has been named the Midwest Conference (MWC) Men’s Basketball Performer of the Week.

Porter connected on a school record 11 three-pointers in an 81-76 triumph at Coe College on Saturday. He finished the contest with a career-high 37 points in leading the Foresters, who trailed by as many as 17 in the first half, to the comeback victory. Porter shot 12-for-17 from the field and 11-for-15 from beyond the arc on the day.

Notable Performances
Kyle Keranen scored a team-high 25 points to lead the Carroll University men's basketball team to an 83-78 overtime victory over visiting Loras College on Saturday, keeping the Pioneers undefeated on the season. Carroll is 7-0 on the year for the first time in its Midwest Conference era, which began in the 1992-1993 season. The junior connected on 6-of-13 shots from the field and was a perfect 11-of-11 from the free throw line. He also dished out five assists and grabbed three rebounds.

Will Jones scored the go-ahead basket in Monmouth College's 84-80 win over Beloit College last week.  In a game that saw eight ties and 15 lead changes, the sophomore guard's bucket with 11:37 left in the second half gave the Scots the lead for good, igniting a 22-8 run. Jones pumped in a game-high 29 points to go with seven rebounds and three assists. For the year, Jones is averaging 17.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.

Seth Taylor gave St. Norbert College a lift off the bench as the Green Knights dispatched Cornell College 79-46 to extend their MWC winning streak to 49. Taylor finished with team-highs in scoring and rebounding with 17 points and six rebounds. He also added two assists and two steals in 19 minutes. Taylor was 6-for-7 from the floor and 3-for-3 at the free-throw line.
