HOUSTON, Texas – The Grinnell College women’s golf team is in the midst of its most spectacular season in program history, and the Pioneers are being rewarded for such.

Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American honors went out to three Grinnell players, a program best, at Thursday night’s NCAA Division III National Championships awards banquet. Highlighting the group is Vidushi Sinha ’19, who became the first Pioneer women’s golfer to claim WGCA first-team All-American honors.

Teammate Nina Kouchi ’22 was a second-team All-American and Vrishali Sinha ’19 gained honorable mention All-America honors. All three were also named to the All-Central Region first team and Grinnell coach David Arseneault was tabbed Central Region Coach of the Year. The Sinhas have been All-Central Region all four of their years at Grinnell.

Vidushi Sinha is ranked seventh nationally by Golfstat and leads the Pioneers in stroke average at 75.6 with two wins, four top-five efforts and eight top-10 finishes in eight outings this season. This is the second time earning All-American honors for the three-time Midwest Conference champion.

Kouchi made an immediate impact on the program, earning a No. 13 national ranking and compiling a stroke average of 76.4 this season. In eight outings, she has one win, five top-five finishes and six top-10 performances. She tied for second at the league meet last fall behind Vidushi Sinha.

Vrishali Sinha has provided the program a solid one-two punch with her sister for four years, compiling a 77.1 stroke average this season with three top-five finishes and six top-10 performances in eight events. The two-time All-American tied for second at the MWC last fall and is ranked 16th nationally.

Arseneault guided the Pioneers to a No. 4 national ranking, a sixth consecutive MWC title and the third appearance in the NCAA D-III National Championships. His squad has been outstanding all season, collecting four wins and three runner-up finishes in eight tourneys, including a win in the prestigious D-III National Preview last September.

Grinnell is currently competing in the NCAA D-III National Championships at Bay Hill Country Club.
