Mocarski, Guyton Headline MWC Men's Soccer All-Conference Awards as Players of the Year

GRINNELL, Iowa – On Friday afternoon, the Midwest Conference (MWC) announced the 2022 Men’s Soccer All-Conference selections. Lake Forest College junior Szymon Mocarski and Grinnell College senior Noah Guyton earned First Team selections and headline the slate of honorees as MWC Men’s Soccer Defensive and Offensive Players of the Year, respectively.
 
Mocarski led the league in goals against average (.625), save percentage (.844), and shutouts (4) through Conference play.
 
Joining Mocarski on the First Team to represent the MWC Champion Foresters is junior Rafael Bonilla-Climaco and freshman Karl Weisenfeld. Senior Teddy Kolesnikov, sophomore Eric Rodriguez, and freshman Ido Zimbelman were named to the Second Team.
 
For the Pioneers, Guyton tied for a league-best in shots with 36 in Conference games for an average of 4.50 per game. Guyton also averaged 2.38 shots on goal per game, scoring five on the season in league play.
 
Grinnell senior Nate Girard and sophomore Dylan Maddux join Guyton on the First Team, while junior teammate Carter Benson received the Second Team goalkeeper selection.
 
Ripon College freshman Abner Contreras was named MWC Men’s Soccer Newcomer of the Year. Contraras started all eight league games for the third place finishing Red Hawks.
 
Led by head coach Marco Rhein, Ripon College was selected as the MWC Men’s Soccer Coaching Staff of the Year. The Red Hawks entered the MWC postseason for this first time since 2010 after going 4-2-2 in league play (8-8-3 overall).
 
Ripon also picked up Second Team honors with freshman Finley Manning and sophomore Eli Dietzel.
 
Monmouth College was recognized with the Team Sportsmanship award for men’s soccer. The Fighting Scots also landed two Second Team selections in seniors Jaxon Coleman and Nicolas Esparon.
 
Rounding out the First Team is Cornell College sophomore George Archer, Illinois College junior Tyler Schiltz, along with fifth-year Lucas Piqueras and junior Alex White of Knox College.
 
Senior Cian McNamara and sophomore Aidan Lerch represent Cornell College on the Second Team, along with Lawrence University sophomore Konstantinos Fardellas.
