OSHKOSH, Wisconsin – The Midwest Conference (MWC) is well-represented in the Week 5 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings as published by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
Both the Grinnell College women’s and men’s programs earned spots in this week’s regional rankings, with the women’s team checking in at No. 5 and the men’s team at No. 10. Cornell College (#7, Midwest Region) and Ripon College (#8, North Region) also appear in this week’s women’s rankings.
On the women’s side, each of the three schools have two runners that boast some of the Top10 times in the Midwest Conference. Ripon’s Joley Berger and Jenny Cortes have the top two times in the league, running 22:04.80 and 22:21.00, respectively. Cornell’s Lidia Dahlman (4th, 22:35.30) and Alyza Koppes (8th, 23:03.20) are also in the top 10 across the conference, while Grinnell is represented by Hannah Roark (6th, 22:48.20) and Sindri Bonner (7th, 23:02.40).
On the men’s side, Grinnell’s top performer is Ben Abelow, who has the 11th-fastest time in the MWC after a 26:30.00 performance 10 days ago at Wartburg. The Pioneers have finished third, third, fourth and sixth in their four meets this season.
All four squads are in action this upcoming weekend (Saturday, Oct. 18). Cornell, Grinnell and Ripon will all run at the Augustana Interregional Invite, while the Grinnell women will also compete at the Connecticut College Invite (Top8 only).
