OSHKOSH, Wisconsin – Cornell College freshman Michaela Clark was named Midwest Conference (MWC) Women’s Tennis Newcomer and Player of the Year, the league announced Wednesday morning.

Primarily playing at the No. 1 singles position, Clark went 5-1 against MWC opponents – dropping just three total sets – and 9-3 overall across dual and tournament action. She partnered with Mac Graves in No. 1 doubles, going 5-1 in league play and 10-4 overall.

Clark was a two-time runner-up at last weekend’s 2025 MWC Women’s Tennis Individual Tournament, advancing to the championship match at No. 1 Singles and No. 1 Doubles with Mac Graves.

Clark also headlines the 2025 MWC Women’s Tennis All-Conference Singles and All-Conference Doubles Teams, each consisting of ten players. Across both teams, Lake Forest and Cornell led all schools with six honorees apiece, while Grinnell College totaled four. Monmouth College received three selections, while Lawrence University earned one.

In his fifth year as head coach of the Rams, Trent Schneider was named MWC Women’s Tennis Coach of the Year for the second time in his career. Under Schneider’s guidance, Cornell finished third in the regular season standings, going 4-2 in league play and 10-3 overall.

The MWC women's tennis postseason awards are nominated and selected by a vote of the league's seven head coaches. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players and teams. This is the fifth presentation of the MWC Women's Tennis Player of the Year award and the third time the All-Conference Singles and Doubles Teams have been selected not based on the players' finishes at the MWC Individual Tournament.
