LAKE FOREST, Illinois – The Lake Forest women’s soccer program kicked off the NCAA Tournament on a high note, rolling past Spalding 4-0 on Saturday at Mohr Field.
En route to their 11th shutout of the season – and fifth in as many matches – Lake Forest cruised from the start. Newly minted Midwest Conference Newcomer of the Year Maddie Vasquez kicked off the scoring in the sixth minute, while Theresa Presberg followed in the 16th minute and Anna Gracia added another in the 44th. Lake Forest led 3-0 at halftime and held a 10-3 shots advantage.
Tallying 11 shots to the Eagles’ four in the second half, Anna Hoffman connected for a goal in the 60th minute to round out the scoring and run the Foresters’ record to 21-0.
LFC now advances to the round of 32, where it will play either Carleton College (16-2-2) or John Carroll University (13-5-1) on Sunday, November 16 at 1pm on Mohr Field.
The winner of Sunday’s contest advances to the Sweet 16 at a site TBD on Saturday, November 22.
