NORTHFIELD, Minnesota – The Lake Forest men’s soccer program saw its historic season come to a close on Saturday with a 4-1 loss against future Midwest Conference foe Luther College at Rolf Mellby Field on the campus of St. Olaf College.

Scoring was fast and furious in the first half, but Lake Forest struck first in the ninth minute as Chad Endozo scored on a feed from Nathan Kostovetsky to give LFC a 1-0 lead. It was short-lived, however, as Luther responded with a goal 30 seconds later to tie the match. The Norse then grabbed their first lead of the afternoon with a tally in the 30th minute, and the Foresters trailed 2-1 at half.

Luther pulled away early in the second half – doubling its lead in the 54th minute with an unassisted goal – and scoring another in the 72nd minute. The Foresters were unable to find the back of the net the rest of the way, dropping its opening-round match.

Shots were even at 12 apiece, while Luther had a 6-5 edge in shots on goal.

Lake Forest ends its season with a 19-2 record. The Foresters won the Midwest Conference tournament crown for the fourth consecutive season.
