Grinnell College Wins 11th Annual MWC SAAC Giving Challenge

OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — The 11th Annual Midwest Conference (MWC) SAAC Giving Challenge has officially concluded, highlighting the remarkable generosity of our student-athletes and nine member institutions. Over the four-week campaign, MWC campuses collected a combined total of 7,002 non-perishable items and $8,100.12 in monetary donations, showcasing their collective commitment to supporting their communities.
 
For the second year in a row, and second time overall, Grinnell College came away as the overall winner and top contributor. The Pioneers added 286 canned goods and $2,753.96 in the final week, finishing with an impressive equivalency of 6,323.92.
 
Lawrence University, which led all teams after the first three weeks, claimed second place with an equivalency of 5,993. The Vikings added 401 items and $883 in week four.
 
Ripon College jumped from eighth place to third in the final week, recording 2,192 total items and $126 for an equivalency total of 2,444. Illinois College slipped from second to fourth as the Blueboys and Lady Blues did not record any final week totals. Rounding out the top half of the standings was Lake Forest College, who went from fourth to fifth after a final equivalency total of 1,953 (13 items and $536 in the final week).
 
Monmouth College went from third to sixth, collecting 18 items and $90.37 in week four. Beloit College dropped two spots and finished in seventh place – the Buccaneers collected 12 items and $197.68 in week four. Cornell College moved up one spot from ninth to eighth after week four collection totals of 300 items and $228. Knox College rounded out the standings but still collected 309 items and $90 in the final week of competition.
 
Each campus team will donate their collected items and funds to local food pantries, shelters, or similar organizations. Throughout the history of the Challenge, MWC campuses have collectively donated more than 122,000 non-perishable items and $55,290.24 in monetary contributions.
