OSHKOSH, Wisconsin – The Midwest Conference (MWC) announced its Performers of the Week award recipients for games played January 5-11, 2026, on Monday.
MWC sports information directors nominate student-athletes for the Performer of the Week honor by sport and vote as a committee to select the winners.
For the winter season, Performers of the Week will be recognized every week on Monday (basketball) and Tuesday (swimming and diving, indoor track and field) once their seasons have been triggered (three MWC institutions competing) and will conclude the week prior to the sport-specific Conference tournament/championship.
The Performer of the Week award winners are as follows:
Men’s Basketball Performer of the Week
Alex Forowycz, Lake Forest College
Forowycz averaged 25.5 points per game while leading Lake Forest to a pair of victories last week. After scoring 25 points in Wednesday's 76-71 triumph over Illinois College, he finished with 26 in a 94-74 win at Cornell on Saturday. The senior wing shot 18-for-35 from the field, knocked down four three-pointers, and was 11-for-11 at the foul line in the two games combined. In addition to posting game-high point totals in each contest, he led all players with six assists on Saturday.
Women’s Basketball Performer of the Week
Sophie Schlieve, Ripon College
Schlieve continued her string of strong low post performances, averaging 13 points and nine rebounds for the Red Hawks across two conference wins. Schlieve added in two blocks in each contest, and currently sits fourth in the MWC for blocked shots this season.
