Cornell, Grinnell, Lake Forest Stay in ITA Women's Team Rankings

OSHKOSH, Wisconsin – Three Midwest Conference women’s tennis programs stand in the latest grouping of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Women’s Computerized Team Rankings, announced by the organization on Wednesday.
 
Ranked 27th with a record of 13-6, Grinnell College fell to second-ranked WashU on Sunday, April 12 by a score of 7-0. The Pioneers wrap up the regular season at home against Central on Sunday, April 19.
 
Cornell College has a 22-3 overall record and is ranked 64th in the poll. The Rams have won their last 12 matches with their three losses coming in a three-week stretch from September 21 through October 12. Cornell has not dropped a match in the spring and took care of both Loras (4-0 on April 9) and Central (5-2 on April 12) last week. The Rams face Wartburg and UW-Stevens Point on Sunday, April 19 to close out the regular season.
 
Lake Forest College has a 14-4 overall record and ranks 70th. The Foresters split a pair of matches last week, defeating Augustana 6-1 on April 8 before falling 4-1 to UC Santa Cruz. A road match at North Park on Tuesday, April 21 wraps up the regular season for LFC.
 
Grinnell won the Midwest Conference women’s tennis regular season title in the fall, its sixth consecutive league crown. The Pioneers will be the #1 seed in May’s MWC Tournament, searching for their sixth-straight NCAA Tournament berth. Cornell will be the third seed in the tournament, facing second-seeded Lake Forest in the semifinals. The Rams are looking to win their first MWC Tournament in school history, while Lake Forest is searching for its fourth such title (and first since 2019).
