OSHKOSH, Wisconsin – Just two days before the start of the postseason, the Midwest Conference is well-recognized in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Men’s Computerized Team Rankings as announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.
With a 17-5 overall record, Grinnell College (#19) won its 22nd consecutive MWC regular season crown with victories over Lake Forest College (5-2) and Cornell College (7-0) last weekend. Garvin Murray was named the MWC Performer of the Week following a perfect 4-for-4 weekend in singles and doubles.
Lake Forest (#45) saw its nine-match winning streak come to a close at Grinnell on April 18, but the Foresters rebounded to defeat Cornell 7-0 on the same day. Sporting an overall record of 14-6, Lake Forest has lost just once since mid-March.
Grinnell will be the top seed in Friday’s Midwest Conference Men’s Tennis Team Tournament, while Lake Forest will be the second seed. Grinnell faces Illinois College in the semifinals looking for its 19th consecutive NCAA Tournament bid, while Lake Forest takes on Cornell in search of its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1999.
