OSHKOSH, Wisconsin – The Midwest Conference (MWC) announced its Performers of the Week award recipients for games played April 13-19, 2026, on Tuesday.
MWC sports information directors nominate student-athletes for the Performer of the Week honor by sport and vote as a committee to select the winners.
For the spring seasons, Performers of the Week will be recognized every week on Monday (baseball, softball) and Tuesday (men’s tennis, outdoor track and field) once their seasons have been triggered (three MWC institutions competing) and will conclude the week prior to the sport-specific Conference tournament/championship.
The Performer of the Week award winners are as follows:
Men’s Tennis Performer of the Week
Garvin Murray, Grinnell College
Murray was a perfect 4-for-4 as the Pioneers topped both Lake Forest College and Cornell College to claim its 22nd consecutive MWC title, the longest such streak in league history regardless of sport. In a 5-2 victory over Lake Forest, Murray teamed with Gervase Ngo ’28 to win 6-4 at No. 3 doubles and then got the match-clinching point in a 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 decision at No. 3 singles. Grinnell then stretched its winning streak against league foes to 202 matches by blanking Cornell 7-0, as Murray won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and teamed with Ngo for a 6-3 decision at No. 2 doubles. Grinnell has shut out 44 of its last 52 MWC opponents.
Men’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Week
Isaac vanWestrienen, Cornell College
VanWestrienen clocked the nation's fastest Division III time of the season in the 10,000-meter run at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California. His mark of 28:52.66 ranks No. 8 all-time on the Division III list. VanWestrienen won his heat and broke his own school record by 23 seconds.
Men’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Week
Josh Martinez, Beloit College
In the throwing rings, Martinez had a career day on Saturday. He earned a podium spot in the men’s discus, launching a personal best toss of 50.32m to finish third. He proved his versatility across the throwing disciplines, recording another personal best in the hammer throw with a distance of 50.08m and finishing the shot put with a mark of 14.25m. His discus mark is a new school record, breaking the one he set last season. His hammer throw mark is another school record, breaking a 26-year record.
Women’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Week
Ava Claussen-Tubbs, Cornell College
Claussen-Tubbs posted an MWC-leading and personal-best time of 4:37.78 in the 1500-meter run at the Phil Esten Challenge in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The mark ranks No. 61 nationally. She finished fourth out of 53 competitors.
Women’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Week
Jillian Toth, Monmouth College
Jillian Toth had four season-highs in throwing events on Saturday at Augustana's Meet of Champions. In the hammer throw, she threw 51.16m which is the best throw in the MWC by more than seven meters and ranks 25th nationally. She threw 12.63 in the shot put, a new PR and the second-best throw in the MWC behind teammate Kayla Braun. Toth threw a PR of 37.16 in the discus which ranks fourth in the MWC and also set a new season-best in the javelin at 26.45m.
