Lake Forest Heads to Case Western Reserve for First NCAA Tournament

OSHKOSH, Wisconsin – For the first time in school history, the Lake Forest College men’s tennis program will compete in the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Tournament, facing Ohio Northern University on Friday (May 8) in a regional hosted by Case Western Reserve University.
 
Lake Forest (16-6), ranked 35th nationally, earned its spot in the 44-team national field after winning the Midwest Conference Team Tournament and claiming the automatic bid. The Foresters defeated Grinnell College 4-3 on April 24, ending the Pioneers’ 203-match winning streak against conference foes.
 
Ohio Northern (13-8), ranked 72nd, earned the Ohio Athletic Conference automatic qualifier after sweeping Otterbein 4-0 on Saturday (May 2) in the OAC Tournament final for the Polar Bears’ fifth consecutive OAC Tournament title (15th overall).
 
The winner of Friday's match will advance to face #5 Case Western Reserve (26-8) in the second round on Saturday, May 9.
 
Also, in the CWRU regional, #13 Mary Washington (20-6) will take on the winner of Whitman (17-5) and #57 Asbury (13-5). Match times are to be announced.
