CHICAGO, Illinois - University of Chicago junior Walter Kilgore has earned Third-Team Preseason All- America honors, as announced by D3football.com on Thursday afternoon.

Kilgore is just the fourth player in University of Chicago football history to be named a Preseason All-American since the award was introduced in the 2011 season. He joins Jackson Ross (2015 DL), Vincent Beltrano (2015 DB), and Nicholas D'Ambrose (2022 RB) as the three Maroons to earn the illustrious preseason honor. He is also the lone player from the Midwest Conference to earn Preseason All-America honors.

The Second-Team All-Region selection in 2025 finished the season 7-for-11 on field goals and 40-for-42 on extra point attempts. He was also 3-for-4 on field goals over 40 yards in length, including three fieldgoals of 50-plus yards. He was also named a 1st-Team All-Midwest selection in both 2024-2025, compiling 16 field goals and 66 extra points for 114 total points scored in two seasons with the Maroons. He enters his junior season just 78 points from breaking the career kicker scoring record at UChicago.

Kilgore and the rest of the University of Chicago football team will open the regular season slate on Thursday, September 3, as they travel to Angola, Indiana, for a non-conference matchup with the Trine Thunder.
