MONMOUTH, Ill. – At the end of one day at the 2013 Midwest Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships the Fighting Scots from Monmouth lead both events as they look for their 12th straight sweep of the championships.
On the women’s side Monmouth racked up 87 points and is 43 points ahead of runner-up St. Norbert. Ripon checks in at third with 36 points while Carroll is in fourth with 31 points. The Monmouth men hold a slim lead with 79 points with current runner-up St. Norbert only 28 points behind. Ripon sits in third with 29 points and Grinnell and Carroll are tied for fourth with 28 points.
There were two records broken on day one as Allison Devor set the new top mark in the shot put while Missy Norville broke her own record in the long jump.

NOTES: Missy Norville (Illinois Col.) set a new MWC Championships record in the 60 hurdles prelims with a time of 8.61 while Kiante Green (Monmouth) set a new mark in the 60 dash with a time of 6.96 in the preliminary race.
