Monmouth Leads After Day One Of Indoor Track Championships

MONMOUTH, Ill. – At the end of one day at the 2014 Midwest Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships the Fighting Scots from Monmouth lead on both the men’s and women’s side as they look for their 13th straight sweep of the championships.

The Monmouth women racked up 61 points and are 14 points ahead of runner-up Grinnell. Carroll checks in at third with 35 points while Cornell is in fourth with 43 points. The Monmouth men hold a 23 point lead over St. Norbert with 77 points. Grinnell sits in third with 47 points and Illinois Col. is in fourth with 23 points.

Beloit’s Felicia Carlson broke the only record of the day in the 60-dash. Her time of 7.84 seconds beat the previous record of 7.88 seconds that was set last year by St. Norbert’s Liz LeCaptain.
