Carroll Takes Day One Lead At Men's Golf Championship

ROCKFORD, Ill. – Carroll holds the lead after the first day of the 2014 Midwest Conference Men’s Golf Championship. The Pioneers finished the round in 318 shots, which is six shots better than both Monmouth and St. Norbert who each finished the day in 324 shots.

Lawrence followed with a day one total of 335 shots, one shot better than Illinois Col. in fifth place. Grinnell (339) and Knox (370) round out the seven team field.

Carroll’s Cody Neu shot an even par 72 in the after 18 holes and has a three shot lead on St. Norbert’s Alex Okray. Grinnell’s Jon Cohen was third after the first day with a score of 77 while Christian Walker (Illinois Col.), James Fenner (Knox), Anton Olsson (Lawrence), Drake Decker (Monmouth), and Henry Mulvey (Carroll) all shot 78 to tie for fourth place.

The championship weekend continues tomorrow with the second round of action that is set to tee off at 9 a.m. at Aldeen Golf Club.
