LAKE FOREST, Illinois – The 2024 Midwest Conference (MWC) Women’s Soccer Tournament championship match is set. Lake Forest College and Lawrence University will face off on Saturday, November 9, at 1:30 p.m. on Mohr Field to compete for the tournament title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
In Friday’s first semifinal, Lake Forest College defeated Beloit College 1-0 in a shutout victory.
The Foresters scored the game’s only goal 12:21 into the match. Lake Forest outshot Beloit 22-3, with an 8-1 edge in shots on goal and a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks, while Beloit recorded 7 saves to Lake Forest’s 1.
Beloit finishes the season with a 5-11-3 overall record (4-3-1 MWC), while the Foresters advance with a 14-2-3 overall record.
In the second semifinal, Lawrence University earned a 1-0 victory over Grinnell College.
The Vikings scored the game-winning goal at the 39:45 mark. Lawrence outshot Grinnell 13-1, with 10 shots on target and an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks. Grinnell recorded 8 saves in the match.
Grinnell closes its season with an 8-6-3 overall record (5-2-1 MWC), while Lawrence advances to 14-4-2 overall.
