GRINNELL, Iowa – The Midwest Conference (MWC) announced its Performers of the Week award recipients for games played April 29 through May 5, 2024, on Tuesday.

MWC sports information directors nominate student-athletes for the Performer of the Week honor by sport and vote as a committee to select the winners.

For the spring season, Performers of the Week will be recognized every week on Monday (baseball, softball) and Tuesday (men’s tennis, outdoor track & field) once their seasons have been triggered (three MWC institutions competing) and will conclude the week prior to the sport-specific Conference tournament/championship.

The Performer of the Week award winners are as follows:

Men’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Week
Ben Fisher, Ripon College
Fisher put together an impressive showing in a pair of events in last Friday's dual at Lawrence, winning the long jump in 6.57m. He also won the high jump, tying his current school record of 2.05m set last season. His high jump score is currently #1 in the MWC while he's sixth in the conference in the long jump.

Men’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Week
Lucas Fadden, Grinnell College
Fadden shattered a 41-year-old school record in the 100-meter dash, sprinting to victory at the Monmouth Fighting Scot Invitational. Fadden’s time of 10.49 seconds, which ranks 15th nationally and first in the MWC, toppled the previous Grinnell mark of 10.59 set by Mike McCrary in 1981.

Women’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Week
Miranda Hursey, Monmouth College
Miranda Hursey won the pole vault with an outdoor career-best 3.30m on Saturday at the Fighting Scot Invite. The performance is the new best in the MWC for the outdoor season and ranks 7th in Monmouth history.

Women’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Week
Eva Carchidi, Grinnell College
Carchidi has made a habit of breaking school records, and continued that trend at Saturday’s Monmouth Fighting Scot Invitational. She won the race in 12.11 seconds, which ranks 41st nationally and first in the MWC, to break her previous best of 12.24 set earlier this season. Carchidi also won the 200 in 25.55.
